The Sage represents my interpretation of a simple, traditional design. Most noticeable is the front arm bevel, borrowed from my acoustic guitar building. This brings a hint of modern styling and, greatly improved comfort for extended playing sessions. The Sage features a 25.5″ scale, carbon fibre reinforced neck and my Ergo three bolt neck joint for better higher register access. Essentially a simple and fun guitar, the Sage is also available as a vaulted (V), f-holed semi hollow body.

As with my other models, the Sage is available with a variety of options to suit most players. For those that favour a modern look and feel, the Schaller Hannes composite fixed bridge offers supreme comfort for the picking hand. For those that prefer a more traditional ‘T’ look and configuration, the Gotoh/Wilkinson WT3 bridge offers vintage style brass saddles but with the added ability of intonating each string accurately. The standard Sage comprises a three piece laminate or one piece, flat headstock neck. If a tremolo is specified then an angled headstock will usually be specified. As with all my guitars, carbon fibre is incorporated in the neck design alng with a headstock adjustable two way truss rod. A choice of pickup configurations can be specified along with a leaf or toggle switch. The Sage V features a hollow body (centre section solid) with f hole for a slightly mellower mid range focused sound.

Numerous material options are available, however, the trading of all rosewood species is currently controlled internationally by the relevant CITES treaty appendices. In the UK this means that instruments containing rosewood can only be traded within the EU. Therefore, rosewood is an available option on instruments destined for EU member countries only. Rocklite Sundari is a man-made and sustainable Indian Rosewood substitute.
