Evo
an evolving character
As its name suggests, the Evo has evolved progressively since its conception in 1998. During its evolution the body has become a little more offset, the horns softer, and the treble cutaway deeper. Development of the Ergo neck joint has allowed unhindered upper register access while maintaining structural integrity. Hand selected tonewoods are used throughout construction and many material and hardware options are available to help achieve a desired goal. In addition to the drop top version, the Evo is available in a carved top format as the Evo Artist. The Evo is a familiar and very versatile guitar capable of covering many styles.
Everything with this guitar has been perfectly considered.
Immaculate construction; effortlessly playable; a Swiss army knife of tone.
5/5
The Evo is built with a maple bolt on neck as standard with other timbers and multi-laminate options available. The headstock is angled and scarf jointed, improving neck strength, stiffness, and with a bonus of being more material efficient. Strength around the nut and truss rod adjustment area is increased by the addition of a volute, a carved transition from the playing area to the back of the headstock. The Ergo neck joint features a slip tenon which eliminates the tendancy of sideways neck movement. Steel, threaded inserts and stainless steel bolts anchor the neck to the body.
Many custom build options are available, and advice is always on hand for those wanting to specify a unique and personal guitar. All Evo necks are reinforced with dual carbon fibre bars as well as a two-way truss rod for fine neck relief adjustments. The standard Evo neck features a 10″-16″ compound radius fingerboard though other radii are available, be it compound or cylindrical. The Evo is built with two humbucking pickups as standard and wired with either a standard three way leaf switch, or a five way with auto tapping and phase options for additional flexibility. Available in either 6 or 7 string format, with a fixed bridge or tremolo, and in a gloss or satin lacquered finish.
Bodies
Book matched Evo drop tops can be specified with a natural, faux or genuine bound top edge which can me mirrored on the neck. Bodies are finished in a gloss or satin lacquer.
Necks
The Evo is built around my Ergo neck joint and utilizes bolts in place of traditional screws. Necks are finished in a hand rubbed resin-oil finish for a silky playing experience.
Flexibility
A wide range of pickups and wiring options are available. Auto coil tapping and switching options can offer great flexibility, or you may prefer to opt for a simpler approach.

Numerous material options are available, however, the trading of all rosewood species is currently controlled internationally by the relevant CITES treaty appendices. In the UK this means that instruments containing rosewood can only be traded within the EU. Therefore, rosewood is an available option on instruments destined for EU member countries only. Rocklite Sundari is a man-made and sustainable Indian Rosewood substitute.
