Evo

Originally designed in the mid 1990’s, this model was revamped in 2010. The new Evo features an evolved three bolt neck joint, allowing more ergonomic access to the upper register. To maintain stability of the neck alignment in the pocket, an 8mm wide keyed fillet is fitted between the neck and body. The fillet runs along most of the length of the neck pocket and firmly anchors the neck, preventing sideways movement. Available in a wide range of woods and custom options to suit.
Typical body woods for the Evo guitar include Alder, Swamp Ash, American Poplar, Basswood and Mahogany. The Standard model (S) features a two or three piece body of the timber you specify, while the Pro features the addition of a figured drop top, typically maple though other tonewoods are available. The Evo Pro featured above combines a Basswood body and highly figured Redwood drop top.
As standard the Evo guitar is built around a 25.5″ scale, 24 fret hard maple neck. Other scale lengths, registers and materials are optionally available. The headstock is swept back using a scarf joint for increased strength and rigidity, this is increased further by carving a volute behind the nut. Rosewood, Ebony and Maple are the common fingerboard choices, though other tonewoods can be used. As an option fingerboards can be bound, in the same wood as the fingerboard or in a contrasting material. Typically I use 2.2mm, 2.5mm or 2.7mm fret wire though many other sizes are available to suit. Options such as custom inlay work or even scalloping of the fingerboard are available so please enquire.
There is an array of hardware available these days, much of it cheaper quality chinese copies of well established and tested brands. I prefer to use Gotoh, Schaller, Hipshot and Sperzel. The standard tremolo option for the Evo is the Gotoh/Wilkinson VS100, a superb tremolo. I prefer to use the Schaller Floyd Rose or Low Pro for locking tremolo options.
The pickup market has also grown immensely over the past four or five years, with many boutique makers fighting for market share. You can specify the pickups and wiring you prefer and I can advise you if needed. It is also possible to have pickups custom wound for you, please enquire.
